Chatter box

Its hard to capture on video when Jack talks because as soon as he sees the camera he stops talking...but I caught a few bits of his conversation with me yesterday. I'm pretty sure he was asking what kind of milk they have in Hawaii :)

Aloha!

Good Morning and Bon Voyage!

We are set to take off bright and early tomorrow morning. Wish us luck that Mr. Jack is the sweetest boy ever! We will be giving a few candy TREATS on the plane in hopes others around us smile if Jack decides to pull out a few TRICKS.

He woke up on the good side of the bed (he always does) so here is to a wonderful vacation and a joyous event of marriage for Dr. Strehlow and Dr. Perkinson!

It's a date!

Sunday was our first official date night. Many of my married friends with kids in tow have said how important it is to make plans for a date with your spouse. So a few weeks ago while Kevin and I were eating lunch we took a stroll to the Hobby Center to purchase tickets for Mary Poppins.

The musical was a little different from the movie (I guess to be expected). All of the songs were the same but the rendition they took was a little strange at times. I think Kevin and I most remembered this roof top scene. All in all it was a good play, not the best we have seen but it was nice to get out and enjoy the evening as husband and wife. My mom came over to watch Jack, and as you can see he focused on his toys and didn't even notice that Mom and Dad slipped out. What a cute picture!

We will have to do this again! It was great to get out of the house and dress up for a wonderful night out. Love you Kev! AND Jack :)

4 MONTHS OLD!

We have arrived at 4 months- it doesnt seem possible but the date tells us it is! Jack is growing like a weed, long and lean. He still has those sweet chicken legs but his cheeks and chin make up for it!
The bear is shrinking!

Jack is doing more and more - lets take a look:

  • Eating 5.5 ounces of yummy formula
  • Sleeping from 7: 30 pm to 8 am (wahoooo! Though sometimes he does wake up at 6 am but goes back down after his bottle to then sleep until 9 am)
  • Wearing size 3 months - 6 months
  • Follows voices (looks for the person)
  • Has his eye on these two furballs
  • Had his first belly laugh and now laughs all the time
  • Talks the most when he is on his changing table
  • Knows how to suck his thumb for comfort
  • Puts his hands in his mouth and everything else he can find
  • Starting to watch Mommy and Daddy eat (but he is still on formula)
  • Playing in his Exersaucer (with assistance of towels to hold him in place)
  • Had his first overnight trip without mommy (stayed with Daddy and Grandpa/ma Strehlow)
  • Loves to take walks daily in his Bjorn
  • Watches the pages of his books as we read them to him
  • Splashes water all over the place when in his bath tub
  • Hates tummy time
  • Gives Mommy and Daddy joy every morning when we wake him up

We are going to Hawaii for Aunt Stacy's wedding - we leave this Friday! I will hopefully have a special edition post for Halloween to show off his costumes :) Mahalo friends!

Good Morning!

I'm ready for the races, with my riding cap on... I know I'm a little early since horse racing doesn't start until November, but I'm always ahead of fashion :)

Love, cords and wool hats

Today's post is a little random but I can't help but feel amazing...great weather and a sweet little boy makes life pretty darn "cool" :) So here I go...

I cannot believe that Jack is going to be 4 months on Sunday! Where has the time gone? If you would have asked me at month 1 or 2 if I thought about cute clothes for my son I would have given you the evil look. All I wanted was sleep, and I could not have cared less about all the adorable clothes I had just spent the months prior shopping for. I remember crying to Kev, friends and family.... trying to figure out how to be a mom and what all this new emotion was. My dear friend Elizabeth along with others kept along my side telling me "I felt the exact same way, it gets better I promise...you get your sleep, that frustration turns into love, and everything falls into place...and guess what...that closet that you spent hours adoring over and now don't want to look at will be an excitement again"
Well I'm here to say it does and not only does it get better, it's WONDERFUL! Being a mom is so fulfilling. There is this love that you never even knew you had until you become someone's mommy.
So for all my friends out there that are about to have babies (Mandi, Sarah, Jenn) you may not believe me in a few weeks/months when I tell you what everyone else told me, that it does get better... just know that it does and you will have so much fun being a mom and enjoying everything about it!
xoxoxo

Ok now that I have just made myself sob at the lines above I need to make myself laugh....

Admittedly one of those joys is Jack's clothes..
Today we awoke to amazing fall weather and this means we get to put on the cords...

....and our wool hat!

I can't get enough of hats,
I'm thankful that our little cutie allows me to put them on him. Yes if you are clothes savvy those are Joes jeans... I don't even have a pair, and my son has two pairs! (Thanks Aunt Mandi!)
Hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful weather!

Little things...

Its the little things like Grandpa King sending Jack a Halloween card
or Grandma/Gpa Strehlow watching Jack on a Sunday afternoon for a few hours or my mom coming on Thursday to say hi. It's these sweet moments that I love the most. It's such a blessing that we were able to create not only a joy for Kevin and I, but for our parents as well. Thank you for all that you do and for all the love that you give to Jack.

UT vs OU 2009

Today is the big game! UT vs OU in Dallas.......my boys are ready! This game brings back so many memories from college. I think back to all the silly stuff we did just for THIS GAME and how our dear son will be in college one day rooting for his team and hopefully being a very responsible young man! Mommy's account of TX OU weekend during her college years goes a little something like this. First...go to Target as far away from campus, so that you can score the big cooler... anything closer to campus = no coolers. Then pull out the paint markers and proceed to paint the cooler with your name and your date's name along with slogans like Red River Shoot out, etc. Fill the cooler with booze, candy and snacks. Board the greyhound to Dallas with your cooler that you have given to your date. Drink way to much jungle juice. Sick by Friday night and too tired to get dressed for your dates cocktail reception. Saturday wake up early beer in hand with a FAT FRIED corn dog in the other. Drink more beer, yell really loud, and watch UT whoooop on OU. Watch your drunk date heckle the OU fans and hope no fights break out. Lose your voice by end of game. Sunday breakfast. Get back on the bus that now doesn't seem to be so much fun as Friday. Get back to Austin and sleep until Tuesday. ahhhhhhhhhh while I miss the game I don't miss all that crazy year after year tradition of debauchery. I am very happy with dressing up my boys, watching the game at home and enjoying a nice peaceful Saturday breakfast.
Hook 'em!

Houston...we have hair!!

I'm pretty certain overnight our munchkin grew hair! He woke up with a sweet pile of somewhat curly whispies (this word is for you J. Winters). So mommy pushed them all together to make a spike or better known as the Jackhawk! He was a good sport as I think he knows since mommy can't put bows in his hair, I'll be making Jackhawks for a while!

Jack told me to post this with the picture below...

"hey little ladies, party in my crib 6 am" (that's when he wakes up)...ha ha

Sweet Sarah!

Our dear friend Sarah has been quite the busy lady lately. Her sister had triplets just a few weeks ago! I can not even imagine, but I will say these sweet sweet little lads (2) + the lady are just tooooo precious! Somehow Sarah found the time to shop for our little king and how appropriate on what she found....he IS the King of a lot of things. King of poop, King of smiles and even born on the day that the King of Pop passed away. ...oh and not to mention how fitting since that's my maiden name. I know my Dad will be proud to see him sporting this around!
She also picked up the coolest book! Jack loves for me to read books to him, he is starting to grab a little more each time and soon he will be turning those pages! This soft book is made out of fabric and we can not wait to read it to him. I think it will be on our weekend rotation for Saturday :)

Thank you so much Sarah and Ty for taking time out of your busy day to think of our sweet son.
We look forward to yalls wedding and meeting those triplets very soon!

Cold weather has arrived!!

Usually mommy gets super excited to wear boots (which I am) but now I have another reason to be excited when the cold weather arrives...hats for Jack!!
He wasn't happy at first... check out that lip! hahaha...but it soon turned into smiles and off we went to lunch! He is having a sleep over tonight with Gma Strehlow and Kevin, as mommy is going to a bachelorette party! Whoo hoo!

Sweet Saturday Lovin..

At the Strehlow house, everyone gets to come in bed for the morning. Jack is such a good boy and sleeps from 7: 30 pm until 6 am...and on Saturday morning we bring him in bed so that Mommy and Daddy can get a few more winks of sleep. Chico also decided he was coming up for some lovin', and kicked Daddy out of his spot. (I think he is smiling about this, ha ha)
Have a good weekend!

Monkey business!!

We love pretty packages! What a treat when we checked the mail today and had a wonderful present from The Muellers!! We always love getting cards from the Muellers because they are so FUN! When we opened the box, there was the cutest monkey play mat and our favorite kissy kissy night night outfit. I put Jack on his monkey mat and he loves it! So much fun!
